Eligibility for Admission

A Candidate shall be eligible for the admission to two years Bachelor’s Degree course in Education [B.Ed.,(Non-semester)] provided that he/she should have passed the three year Bachelor’s Degree Course under 11+1+3 or 10+2+3 pattern of study or five years integrated Master’s Degree Course under 10+2+5 pattern of study and majored in any one of the subjects related to a school subject offered at the Secondary/Senior or higher secondary education level (OR) four years Bachelor’s Degree Course in Engineering/Technology under 11+1+4 or 10+2+4 pattern of study (with Mathematics and Science in both higher secondary and Engineering programmes).

  1. Candidates should have scored a minimum of 50% marks either in Part-lll (Main + Allied) of the Bachelor’s degree course or in the Master’s degree course in the same subject of specialization (In case of OBC, BCM, MBC, EBC, SC, BT and Physically Challenged Candidates, one should have
    scored a minimum of 40% marks)
  2. Candidates should have scored a minimum of 55% of marks in Bachelor’s degree Course in Engineering / Technology. (In case of SC candidates, one should have scored a minimum of 50%marks).
  3. A Candidates who has taken more than one school subject as Main (Double or Triple Major) in the Bachelor’s Degree will be eligible for admission to only one of the school subjects chosen.
  4. There is No Upper Age Limit for admission to two year B. Ed., Programme.

RESERVATION
Reservation of seats for different categories is as per the norms of the Govt. of Puducherry

*** Tamilnadu / Other State Candidates will be considered only under the General category & if any vacancy arises or left out seats may be filled with Tamilnadu other state students after filing U.T. of Puducherry students the seats with

1. SCHEDULE CASTE (SC)
Candidates claiming admission under this category should belong to a caste which is recognized as Scheduled Caste under “The Constitution (Puducherry) Scheduled Caste order 1964” dt: 05/03/1964, read with the constitution (SC) orders (Second Amendment) Act 2002 (Central Act 2002) and should enclose the certificate issued recently by an officer of the Department of Revenue & Disaster Management, Puducherry not below rank of Deputy Tahsildar.

2.OBC/BCM/MBCIEBC/BTIST CANDIDATES
Candidates claiming admission under these categories should enclose / produce the certificate issued recently by an officer of the Department of Revenue & Disaster Management, Puducherry not below rank of Deputy Tahsildar.

3. FREEDOM FIGHTER (FF)

Candidates claiming admission under these categories should be Children / Grand Children of Freedom Fighters and they should enclose the necessary certificate issued by the Officer-in-charge Freedom Fighter Cell, Govt. of Puducherry.

4. ARDS OF DEFENCE PERSONNEL

Wards of Defence Serving Personnel who are natives of this U.T, and Ex-Servicemen/ Widows who have registered their names in the Department of Sainik Welfare.

Such personnel having continuous period of five years of study of the ward for Ex-servicemen in any school/college of Puducherry U.T.

5. PERSONS WITH DISABLITIES
A person having disability more than 40% as certified by the Medical Authority / duly constituted Medical Board is to be considered for admission under this category and the order of priority is as follows.

a) VISUALLY IMPAIRED 
Those who suffer from either of the following conditions
i. Total absence of sight
ii. Visual activity not exceeding 6/6 or 20/200 (Snellen on the better eye with correcting lenses and
iii. Limitation of the field of vision subtending an angle of 20 deg or worse

b) HEARINGIMPAIRED
Those for whom the sense of hearing is not functioning for the ordinary purpose of life, Generaly a loss of hearing at 70 decibels or above at 500, 1000 or 2000 Hz frequencies will make residual non functional.

c) ORTHOPAEDICALLY CHALLENGED:
Those who have physical defect or deformity which causes an interference with the normal functioning of bones , muscles and joints

6. MERITORIOUS SPORTS PERSON

To ensure that only sports persons of excellent caliber and those who have showed consistency in sports activities get benefitted under the Sports quota seats, the procedure given below will be followed.

PRIORITIES
The selection of candidates under Sports Quota will be considered in the order of priorities given below.

  1. Medal Winners of/ Rank holders in International Events
  2. Participants in international events
  3. National Level Medal Winners
    1. Senior Level Medal winners in National Events
    2. Junior Level medal winners in National Events
    3. Sub junior level medal winners in National events

4. State level (Inter Schools) medal winners in sports of Education Department State Level
5. Participation in a) National Level b) State Level
